May 2015

The 2014-2015 session of the 3rd Inverness Boys Brigade came to an end on Friday 15th May with our Annual Display and Parent’s Night.

This year our Chief Guests were Kenny Smith and his wife Linda. It was great to have Kenny back amongst us having been a boy and an officer in the company up to a few years ago.

Kenny recounted some of his own experiences of BB life to the Boys and told them how he looks back of his time in the Brigade with great fondness.

I’d also like to thank Farquhar for acting as Chairman for the evening – he definitely kept us going…

More than 50 Boys were in attendance at the display and it was great to see a full hall of parents, grandparents and friends packed into the hall.

Our theme this year was Summer Holidays and each section took part in their own items with the usual display of energy and enthusiasm.

We had a couple of unusual items and a huge thank you to the dads that took part in the 12 days of camp for doing so with good spirit.

Once again the highlight of the was the presentation of the Queen’s Badge to 1 young man. This year it was Daniel Nimmo who attained the highest award the Brigade can offer and in doing so became at least the 3rd generation of Nimmos to do so.

President’s Badges were also presented to Ross Fulton and Craig Macaulay. Jamie Macleod also achieved the President’s Badge but unfortunately couldn’t be there on the night due to illness.

A selection of photos has also been uploaded to our Facebook page – just search for 3rd Inverness Boys’ Brigade.

On Friday 22nd May, we held a treasure hunt and coffee evening to raise funds for the Company. The event raised just under £300.00 – a big thank you to all those who helped and supported us on the night.

On Saturday 23rd May, A few boys also took part in the Battalion Sports Day at Culloden. The Anchor Boys finished as runners-up, the Juniors were 4th and Company Section were 3rd – well done to all those who turned up. A good afternoon was enjoyed by all.
