The 2012-2013
session of the 3rd Inverness Boys Brigade came to an end on Friday 17th
May with our Annual Display and Parent’s Night.
This year our Chief Guest was Inspector David Ogilvie from Police
Scotland; David told some interesting stories in his report as well as
giving some very positive comments on the attitude and behaviour of all
the Boys.
53 Boys were in attendance at the display and it was great to see more
than 100 parents, grandparents and friends packed into the hall.
Our theme this year was dance and all sections took part in their own
items based around the theme, and at one point both Peter Donald and
David Ogilvie were on the floor strutting their stuff!
Once again the highlight of the evening was the presentation of the
Queen’s Badge to Ross Baxter. Ross only joined the 3rd a couple of
years ago but he has worked tirelessly in that time and was rewarded
with the Queen’s badge – he is a credit to his family, the Company and
to Church and I would like to take this opportunity to wish them all
the very best for the future.
President’s Badges were also presented to Dominic Syred and Craig Fraser.
The Boys have also taken part in the Battalion Golf and Sports
competitions; Ross Baxter won the U-19 golf and the Junior Section Boys
won their section of the sports – well done to you all.
The staff are all off for all well earned rest but we’ll be back raring to go again in August / September!!

A
few of the Company Section Boys have been busy over the last few weeks
doing some voluntary work – some moved gravel from the side of the
Church to the areas at the front, while others assisted at a water
station at the Inverness Half Marathon.
The
Boys have also taken part in the Battalion swimming gala, badminton and
table tennis competitions; the most notable successes were in the table
tennis with Craig Fraser finishing runner-up in the Under-15 and Ross
Baxter winning the Under-19 age groups.
Five of our senior boys
also formed the Colour Party at the Annual Battalion Parade to Dalneigh
Church. It was a really cold day and the Boys did the Company and the
Battalion Proud.

On a busy and successful day for the 3rd, congratulations also go to the Masterteam on
winning their round 1 heat by 8 points in Scone! Well done
Craig M, Daniel, Finlay and Ross B.

Well
done today to all the boys in the
different age groups of the Battalion indoor football competitions.
The
senior boys team came second overall without even winning a game
which is some achievement..... ;)
Our Junior section "B team" played some good football and did
themselves proud in all their games.
And
Finally the junior section "A Team" won all their games and the
competition. A Fantastic result and well earned. The trophy is on its
way to the engravers now. ( Its the first time since 2005 that we have
won it)
Saturday 8th September 2012
As the boys took part in the Highland Battalion fund raising sponsored
walk/run, Captain Gary McAra decided to enter a team of the officers
into the Heartbeat Challenge to help raise funds for the Company and
the Cardiology Unit at Raigmore Hospital. Well
The
Heartbeat Challenge involves running / walking 12 miles from Nairnshire
to Moy Estate, crossing Saddle Hill and Pulpit Hill with a 10 mile
return cycle along the old A9. Well done to Denis Boyce, Calum Fraser
and Gary McAra for completing the Challenge in approximately 5½ hours.

Friday 17th August -
Sunday 19th August 2012
The
new session of the 3rd Inverness Boys Brigade
started again for the Boys of the Company Section at our
Annual Camp which was held this year at Carrbridge
24
Boys and Staff attended the weekend, which saw us all partake
in some outdoor games, a
mountain bike ride, indoor sports and swimming at Craig MacLean Leisure
Centre in Grantown and the usual trip to Landmark on Sunday.
It
was great that the Company Chaplain (Dr. Donald) was able to join us
on the Saturday where he showed off his football and basketball skills.
The
weather was kind to us and an enjoyable weekend was had by one and all.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the staff for their help
over the weekend.
